Your Videos Suck!
Feedback can be difficult to take.
But…
The MOST difficult thing is not on the receiving side, it is on the giving side. Try giving honest, open feedback for an entire week. Don’t hold anything back. Don’t try to be nice. Say exactly what is in your head.
I guarantee it will be the most difficult week of your life.
Now, that’s not to say receiving it is easy either. Has anyone ever given you straight, unabashed negative feedback about something you’ve done that you were proud of?
How did that feel?
How did you react?
Were you angry? Resentful? Resistant?
Don’t beat yourself up. That is perfectly normal. Only those that have trained themselves to accept feedback as just that… feedback, have the ability to look at it neutrally. As something that can help them to get better. As a way of improving themselves.
Well, I received some unabashed, negative feedback about some videos I’ve been putting out there from the person closest to me, my wife. And how did I react?
Exactly.
Anger. Resentment. Resistance. Right on queue.
However, after processing what she had done for me, I came around and was able to take the feedback as it was… feedback.

Wow John, video was emotional. I really honestly never thought any of your video suck, but that is just me. I know as far as my website is concern I am just a web designer newbie and it takes years of developing experience. I am going back to school to take advance website designing, redo my lessons for Illustrator (while we are on vacation at Rich Dad) and flash animation. I was using AppDiv’s and now I see how it is affected by IE and Firefox, etc. I am now looking for an experience web designer to mentor me and help me with my site and learn more stuff……feedback is so important no matter how you take it! I am so confident and sure the rest of your video will be terrific even though I really didn’t think they suck!!! I have always learned something from each video…..
thanks,
Linda
Looking forward to your next set of videos…
To your continued success!

Hi, John. I think in this challenge it was important not so much to make a greatest videos, but just go and do them, that was the most impressive thing for me to watch. It is a learning curve and the videos come from the heart, and you are open about it. They are called “a challenge” – so I thought next time using Law of attraction you should call them something different then challenge and that would not attract challenges. Remember the book “The secret” where they say if you say into universe “this is a challenge” then you attract a challenge. If you would say something like “Success stories or ideas” videos, then you might attract more success to your videos?
Let me know what you think about it. I would be glad to assist.
